SWIM STRIPS IT DOWN FOR THEIR NEW “PASS BY” EP
For Fans Of: Catfish and the Bottlemen, Coldplay, The Killers, Neon Trees
STONY BROOK, NY | JULY 31ST, 2020 - NY-based indie pop rock band SWIM have released the new, four-song Pass By - EP, out on all digital platforms NOW. SWIM’s second EP the release features the studio recordings of the band's two 2019 singles ("Pass By" and "The Chase") in addition to the stripped-down, acoustic versions of both tracks. "Pass By" was originally written as a piano ballad by Morelli in response to the lyrical message asserted by McCaffrey in "The Chase". While "Pass By" romanticizes the idea of waiting for your soulmate,"The Chase" discusses the pursuit of happiness and the struggles that ultimately arise. Both tracks speak to the personal doubt one feels in a relationship.
"Pass By" and "The Chase" have previously been released as singles, blending together various elements of mainstream pop, rock, and indie-rock. This EP allowed SWIM the opportunity to re-imagine the songs and perform them in a fashion that pays respect to the way in which they were both initially written: "Pass By" as a piano ballad before it was transformed into an upbeat pop anthem in the studio, and "The Chase" on acoustic guitar before it was produced by the band later in the studio and each section of the song was defined. On the EP, guitarist Nick Riviezzo stated that it was ‘nice to strip the layers off of the songs and perform them in a more intimate way.” Bassist and pianist Pat Morelli added that the EP “allows for the lyrics to be heard and the emotion within the tracks to come through more than ever.”

SWIM is a pop-rock band originating from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY. The members of SWIM, Daniel McCaffrey(24), Nick Riviezzo (24), Brian D’Angio (22), and Pat Morelli (22), inherited a love for classic rock and combined it with their love for indie-rock (The Strokes, The Kooks, The Killers) and pop-rock (One Direction, Coldplay, The Lumineers) to create a modern pop-rock sound that is fun and refreshing. Friends since high school, the members of SWIM have taken time to develop a sound that is as authentic as it is radio ready. After emerging as one of the top band’s on Long Island, SWIM captured the nation’s attention, performing on stages at SXSW 2018 in Austin, Texas following the 2017 release of their sophomore EP, Finally, Someone. In April of 2018, broke through with their first single "Heartbeat Connection", a track which has garnered nearly a half a million streams on Spotify. SWIM debuts a fine-tuned, focused bid at powerful, alternative rock laced with pop overtones, with songs that speak to the trials and tribulations of adolescence, young love, and coming-of-age.
